Minor Hockey Associations

In 1937, sports minded community league members recognized the need to give athletes from schools and community leagues a more competitive environment in which to develop their athletic talents.

Today, the Canadian Athletic Club ices 10 ‘AA’ and ‘AAA’ teams from U13 (Pee Wee) through U18 (Midget) in a variety of leagues sanctioned by Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada.

The Whitemud West Hockey Association (W.W.H.A.) administers hockey on behalf of the families within the Whitemud West area.

The Hawks Athletic Club is a member of Hockey Edmonton and has been providing organized hockey in northwest Edmonton since 1987. The Hawks Athletic Club is open to all children ages 4 through 12, residing north of Stony Plain Road and the MacKinnon Ravine to the city boundary and 97 Street west to the city limits.

The Edmonton Female Hockey Alliance will connect girls playing minor hockey in the city under a single association, which will elevate development and significantly improve the female hockey experience in Alberta’s capital city.

Hockey Leagues

EFHL is made up of 33 Minor Hockey Associations located in the Edmonton Capital Region under the direction of Hockey Alberta and Hockey Canada.

The Capital Junior Hockey League's mission is to promote the category of Junior 'B' hockey by providing an organized environment in which hockey teams or clubs, operating from within communities or centers in the general geographic region of the Alberta Capital, can participate in the spirit of competition and sportsmanship.

The NJHL provides organized recreational junior hockey in the category of Junior 'C' with a competitive spirit that promotes sportsmanship, in the greater Edmonton area and extends the competitive career of many young athletes who would other-wise be forced to play in non-contact senior leagues after graduating from U18.
